Now
17 years old, Carema (fondly known as Grandma at home) has been the most
consistent broodmare we could ever has wished for. Her offspring have
gone on to be champions and bred champions themselves.
In 1998 at the ripe old age of 16 'Grandma' won a Welsh Pony and Cob Society
Medal along with her daughters Maenan C J (Adam Fletcher and Callie Stein)
and Maenan Catrin (Pete and Tanina Rushton)
This year's filly, Maenan Cameo, was Reserve Champion Section C at the
Midlands In Hand Show (as a foal!) and is retained.
I hate to think of Maenan without Grandma but when the worst happens I
hope we have a replacement of the same calibre in Cameo.
The result of that very first mating of Carema to Storm, Maenan Ceri,
is still here producing prizewinner after prizewinner including Maean
Caiyo and Maenan Raider, Mrs Betty Powell's driving champions.
